~ Girls Weekend~

We had such a fun weekend, just the girls :)  We embarked on a road trip to Kylee's new school Eastern Washington University!  I am so happy she is just a quick 4 hour drive from home.  ( I will be able to get her home on holidays and some weekends!)  My cousin and her family also live in Spokane which is just a half hour away.  We got to spend the night with them and attend my second cousins ( Kira's)  Young Women Medallion Ceremony.  Everyone was so nice on the campus and we were able to meet with the department advisor for Kylee's major.  He will be the one to approve her into the program she wants to study!  ( She is going to major in Biology and minor in humanities)  She has decided that she is interested in becoming a doctor!  So proud of her!  So here is my pre-med daughter in her new university wear :)

One of the reasons Kylee chose Eastern was because of their football program.  She is a major fan and is looking forward to cheering the team on as much as possible!

Some things I learned on our little weekend. 

• My cousin's house is like Fort Knox, once it's locked there is no getting back in ( I tried).  I left my phone plugged into the wall, and had to make a 1/2 hour round trip drive to Paula's work to fetch the key...
• Do not depend on contact information from your phone ( if you lock it in someones house, you cannot get ahold of that person to get their key because their number is also locked away in said house)
• What's mine is Kylee's and what's Kylee's is Kylee's.  I really miss my own hair dryer.  Mine has more power than hers and one morning I woke up to realize she had switched them.  I got to use mine again on the trip, and I miss it!
• Do not put Faith's carseat in the center of the back seat.  If she sees out the front windshield she will get car sick.
• Do let Faith walk by herself when out of the car, so that throw up misses me completely.
• Spokane needs to synchronize their lights on Division street! 
• Do Not buy husband sweatshirts with writing on the sleves, he thinks they are girly ( who knew?)

Katniss Braid Fetish ~

Confession time...ever since I saw the movie Hunger Games I have been Obsessed with the Katniss braid! I do Faith's hair almost daily! I am a crazy fan!

Lessons~

My cousin got to meet Elizabeth Smart today...she wrote the below~

 

I got to meet Elizabeth Smart tonight. She is a lovely young woman. She told her story at the Tooele Healthy Woman event.

It was great to hear her speak even though it was really difficult to hear her story.

The day after she returned home, her mom gave her some advice that has guided her life and I think it is worth sharing.

Her mom told her that what "that guy" did to her was horrible ...and evil and there weren't words to describe it. He had taken 9 months of her life. Then her mom told her to not let him take any more. Her best "revenge" would be to be happy and move forward and not give him one more day of her life. She thought about it and agreed. She would live her life doing things she loved with the people she loved around her looking forward not back.

As I was talking with another attendee aftewrard we talked about how so many of us hold grudges over stupid little things and we let those who have hurt us continue to hurt us. We CAN let go and not look back. We can't choose what happens to us but we can choose how we act/react. We can choose to live in the present and look forward.

Ear's Pierced ~ so painful :(

Unfortunately there was only one person working and she had to do each ear seperately.  Faith knew it would hurt, and was a brave little peanut!  She stood still for both ears...even after she felt the first ear.  So proud of her.  She also is into rainbows and picked a colorful flower for her studs. 

The sucker didn't seem to help :(

But all is well!  About 5 minutes after it was done she was asking me to tell everyone in the mall to look at her pretty ears.  And at home she was all smiles in her pj's!

~ Faith's 1st Soccer Practice~

Faith has been wanting to play soccer since she could speak English.  Her older brother Dallin plays.  We finally got her signed up and she was so excited!  Here is a picture on our porch in her practice gear.  Practice was entertaining to say the least.  She was pretty distracted by the snow mounds still left on the field, and when the coach told her to dribble the ball, she had no idea what that meant and would just kick it really hard.  She also had to go potty in the middle of practice and there was no bathroom unlocked...so we had to drive home and drive back.  Add to that the cold,wet, windy,rainy weather and you can imagine how fun this 1st practice really was :)  She didn't complain once!  I did, but then again I am a sun worshiper and Seattle is the wrong state to live in~  she is a cute little thing!
